So in order to drain properly & clean the old grey-ish sludge out reasonably well, start by having a litre or 2 of kerosine to hand. (It's actually superfine aluminium that's been worn off the insides of the sliders mixed in with the oil). However, draining thr oil this way won't clean out all thr residual 'grey sludge' that builds up internally. then turn rightside up & refill to the top.įailing that, Just remove the small drain screws at the bottom of the fork sliders -watch for the internal pressure (which will attempt to fire the small screw under the freezer sharing space in yr garage). I just unscrew the tops of the forks, turn the bike upside -down & shake vigorously for about 30s.
